Kuwait Embassy Legalization

October 17, 2019 by Admin

Do you need to legalize your documents for Kuwait?

Certifying and legalizing documents for Kuwait is a three step process.  Your documents will require State certification, US Department of State certification, and Kuwait Embassy or Consulate legalization.  For example, if your birth certificate originates from the State of Florida, your document will require Florida Secretary of State certification, Washington DC US Department of State certification, and Kuwait Embassy legalization.

In the United States, the Kuwait Embassy is located in Washington DC and the Consulate is Located in Los Angeles. Currently, the cost to legalize a document through the Embassy or Consulate is $25.  Please note that this amount may change at any time.

Here is an illustration to help explain the process:

Office Hours: Monday – Saturday 9am – 6pm
Customer Support: 1-800-850-3441
Email: Kuwait@apostilleservices.com

The Embassy or Consulate of Kuwait will also attach their seal and signature to the certificate issued by US Department of State in Washington DC. Here is an example of their seal:

Legalizing documents for Kuwait can be complicated and time-consuming. Single Status Apostille

October 9, 2019 by Admin

Do you need to apostille a single status?

At Apostille Services, we take the guesswork out of obtaining an apostille on your documents.

We can apostille a single status issued from all 50 U.S. states, District of Columbia, and the U.S. Federal Government (USA Embassy Single Status). For countries who are non-members of the Hague Apostille Convention, we can also process your single status certificate through the U.S. Department of State and the Embassy or Consulate office.

If you are planning to get married in another country who is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, you will be asked to apostille a document called a single status.  In some countries, you may also be required to provide this documentation for employment.

This document may also be referred to as:

  • No Record of Marriage
  • Certificate of Freedom to Marry
  • Certificate of No Impediment for Marriage
  • Certificate of No Record – Marriage
  • Affidavit of Single Status
  • Affidavit of Marriageability
  • Certificate of No Public Record
  • Eligibility to Marry
  • Affidavit of Civil Status

Here is an example of a single status affidavit:

The first step is to contact the local County Clerk’s office to request a document that states you are currently not married (AKA: Single Status).  Some County Clerk offices may refer to this document as a “no record of marriage” instead of a “single status” (see list above).  Most all County Clerk offices can provide you this document so please be sure to speak to a supervisor if you are told otherwise.  A document issued from the County Clerk’s office does not require notarization.

If the County Clerk is unable to assist you and you are in the United States, you can use the sample above to write your own single status affidavit.  Basically, you are writing a sworn statement stating that you are currently not married to another person in the United States.  Be sure to have this document signed and notarized before you mail it in to our office. You should also check with the people requesting your single status if they will accept a sworn affidavit directly from you.

If you are outside of the United States, the local US Embassy or US Consulate office should be able to assist you in completing a single status and also having it signed and notarized.  Because you will be visiting a U.S. Federal Government office and having your document signed and notarized by a US Federal notary public, this document can then only be apostilled through our Washington DC apostille office.

Here is an example of a Single Status Affidavit / Affidavit of Civil Status issued from a U.S. Embassy / Consulate General:

Please Note: We can only help you with documents originating from or notarized within the United States and for another country. If your single status affidavit is originating from another country, you will need to contact the correct competent authority to assist you in that country.

Obtaining an apostille can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your paperwork could be rejected costing you time and money. Don’t let this happen to you!

Do you need to legalize your documents through the Cuba Embassy in Washington DC?

Are you planning on getting married in Cuba and need your birth certificate, single status affidavit, and certified divorce decree (If previously married) legalized for this country?  Are you planning on doing business in Cuba?

Certifying and legalizing documents for Cuba is a three step process.  Your documents will require State certification, US Department of State certification, and Embassy legalization.  For example, if your birth certificate originates from the State of California, your document will require California Secretary of State certification, Washington DC US Department of State certification, and Cuba Embassy legalization.

Here is an illustration to help explain the process:

Office Hours: Monday – Saturday 9am – 6pm
Customer Support: 1-800-850-3441

The Cuban Embassy requests that all documents include a certified Spanish translation to accompany your documents.  The translation needs to be performed by a certified translator and the translator’s signature needs to be signed and notarized.  You can find a certified translator by contacting the American Translator’s Association.

The Cuban Embassy also charges $300 for every document legalized through the Embassy.  If you need your birth certificate and single status certified and legalized, the Embassy will charge $600 to process these two documents.  Also, you will need to include a USPS money order payable to the ‘Embassy of the Republic of Cuba’.

Legalizing documents for Cuba can be complicated and time-consuming. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the legalization process and the unique requirements of this country. Your paperwork could be rejected costing you time and money. Don’t let this happen to you!

Canada Embassy Washington DC – Document Attestation

September 15, 2019 by Admin

Do you need to certify, legalize, and attest your U.S. documents for Canada?

Documents originating from the United States (Example: Birth, death, marriage, divorce, single status, etc…) can be certified, legalized, and attested for Canada.

Canada is not a member of the Hague Apostille Convention (Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents).  Documents originating from the USA and destined for this country requires several steps to complete. These steps are necessary in order for the country of Canada to accept your documents.

Here is an illustration to help explain the process:

In order to process your documents for Canada, they first needs to be certified from the State of origin.  For example, if your birth certificate is from New York City, the certificate will need to be authenticated through the County (Exemplification), New York Department of State, US Department of State, and Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C.

For U.S. Federal documents (Example: FBI, Social Security, FDA, USDA, etc…), these documents only require US Department of State certification and Embassy legalization.

Office Hours: Monday – Saturday 9am – 6pm
Customer Support: 1-800-850-3441
Email: Canada@apostilleservices.com

Please Note: We can help you with documents originating from or notarized within the United States and for another country. If your documents originated from Canada (Example: Birth, marriage, death, divorce, etc..), you will need to contact the correct competent authority to assist you in that country.
