California Birth Certificate Apostille

Do you need to apostille a California Birth Certificate?

The state of California has a total of 58 Counties.  Each County can issue a birth certificate from the Health Department and from the County Clerk (California Counties Apostille).  A birth certificate issued by the Health Department and signed by a Medical Doctor will requires County Clerk authentication before the state will attach the apostille; basically a two step process.  A birth certificate issued by the County Clerk only requires the state apostille.  Therefore, it’s important to obtain a birth certificate from the County Clerk’s office.

For example, if your Los Angeles birth certificate is issued by the Los Angeles Health Department, it will need to be authenticated through the Los Angeles County Clerk’s office before the state of California will attach the California apostille.  To avoid the additional step, obtain a certified copy of your Los Angeles birth certificate directly from the County Clerk’s office.

In the State of California, we have offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco.  We recommend that you mail in your documents to the closest office near you.  If you are outside of California, please mail in your documents to our Los Angeles apostille office.

Apostille IRS Form 6166

Do you need to apostille IRS Form 6166?

IRS Form 6166 is a document that certifies that an individual or entity is a resident of the United States for tax purposes. It is commonly used by individuals and companies to obtain treaty benefits, such as reduced withholding tax rates, in foreign countries where they do business.

To obtain Form 6166, you need to submit a completed Form 8802, Application for United States Residency Certification, to the IRS. The form requires information such as your name, tax identification number, and the tax treaty provision that you are relying on.

The IRS charges a fee for processing Form 8802, and it can take up to six weeks to receive Form 6166 after submitting the application. Once you receive Form 6166, it is valid for the current calendar year and can be used to claim treaty benefits in foreign countries.

It is important to note that Form 6166 only certifies your residency status for tax purposes and does not provide any information about your tax liability or compliance.

U.S. treaty partners require the IRS to certify that the company or person claiming treaty benefits is a resident of the United States for the federal tax purposes. The IRS provides this residency certification on Form 6166.  This letter is typically referred to U.S. Residency Certification.

The most common countries we apostille IRS Form 6166 are for: Ukraine, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Portugal, Russia, Chile, and Kazakhstan. 

Form 6166 is a letter printed on U.S. Department of Treasury stationary certifying that the company or person is a resident of the United States for purposes of income tax laws of the United States. You may use this form to claim income tax treaty benefits and certain other tax benefits in foreign countries.

Background Check Apostille Services

Do you need to apostille your Background Check?

Are you in need of an apostille for your criminal background check? Look no further than Apostille Services Our team can assist you with obtaining an apostille for your criminal background check issued from any of the 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, or the FBI. For countries that are not members of the Hague Apostille Convention, we can still process your background check through the U.S. Department of State and the Embassy or Consulate office.

To get started, you’ll need to obtain your background check from the appropriate authority. This may include your local police station, Sheriff’s department, State (DOJ), or the U.S. Federal Government (FBI). Some countries may require both a local background check and an FBI background check.

Once you have your background check, you can mail the original or a certified copy to our office for processing. If you have a digital FBI background check, you can simply email it to our Washington DC apostille office. Please note that while obtaining a background check from the FBI is the most common option, a background check issued from the local Police, Sheriff, or State office can only be authenticated from the State of issue.

If the requesting country is asking for a local Police or Sheriff’s Department background check, you’ll need to have a letter drafted and notarized by the appropriate authority. Once you’ve obtained your background check, you’ll need to meet with a local traveling notary to notarize the officer’s signature on the document. The notary will also need to use the correct notarial wording for the state before mailing the notarized background check with our order forms to our office for processing.

Obtaining a background check from the State’s Department of Justice can be more complicated, so be sure to contact the appropriate authority for step-by-step directions.

County Clerk Issued Single Status Apostille

Do you need to apostille a County Clerk issued Single Status?

A single status can be issued by the local County Clerk’s office.  This document may also be referred to by a different name.  Please review the list of names below and ask to speak to a supervisor if you are told they don’t issue this document.

We can apostille a single status issued from all 50 U.S. states, District of Columbia, and the U.S. Federal Government (USA Embassy Single Status). For countries who are non-members of the Hague Apostille Convention, we can also process your single status certificate through the U.S. Department of State and the Embassy or Consulate office (Legalization Process).

If you are planning to get married in another country who is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, you will be asked to apostille a document called a single status.

The first step is to contact the local County Clerk’s office to request a document that states you are currently not married (AKA: Single Status).  Some County Clerk offices may refer to this document as a “no record of marriage” instead of a “single status” (see list above).  Most all County Clerk offices can provide you this document so please be sure to speak to a supervisor if you are told otherwise.  A document issued from the County Clerk’s office does not require notarization unless they provide you a notarized certificate.

US Patent and Trademark Office Apostille Services

Do you need to apostille a certificate issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)?

The U.S. Patent and Trademark office is a branch of the Unites States Department of Commerce.  This document is bound by the Patent and Trademark Office with a bronze seal and signed by the Certifying Officer.

Documents issued by the US Patent and Trademark office can be apostilled through our Washington DC Apostille office. In order for your document to receive an apostille, you must mail in the certified copy issued by the Patent and Trademark office with our order forms.

We recommend that you mail in your certified documents by FedEx, UPS, or DHL to our Washington, D.C. office. Documents mailed in by USPS can be delayed. Please contact our office for the most up-to-date processing time and availability.
