Vehicle Title Apostille

March 22, 2020 by Admin

Do you need to apostille a Vehicle Title?

Has your vehicle been stolen and recovered in another country?  Have you sold your vehicle to a buyer in a foreign country?  Are you moving to another country and want to ship your vehicle there?  Are you a foreign buyer and have purchased a vehicle from the United States?

The most common vehicle titles we apostille are:

  • Car Titles
  • Truck Titles
  • Motorcycle Titles

Note: In order to obtain an apostille on your vehicle’s title, it must be signed and notarized. Below, we have provided step-by-step instructions on how to notarize your vehicle’s title depending on the situation.

Selling Your Vehicle: If you are selling your vehicle to an international buyer, all you need to do is meet with a local notary public and have your vehicles original title signed and notarized.

Vehicle Stolen & Recovered: If your vehicle has been stolen and recovered in a foreign country, go ahead and make a color copy of your title and meet with a local notary public.  You will need to attest that you are the owner of the recovered vehicle and that the color copy is a true copy of the original document in your possession.   This is basically a sworn affidavit.

You can use the following example wording:
“I certify that I am the owner of the vehicle recovered and that this is a true color copy of the original title in my possession.”

Exporting Your Vehicle: Are you relocating to another country?  Go ahead and make a color copy of your title and meet with a local notary public.  You will need to attest that the color copy is a true copy of the original.  This is basically a sworn affidavit.

You can use the following example wording:
“I certify that I am the owner of this vehicle and that this is a true color copy of the original title in my possession.”

Are you currently outside of the U.S. and you are a U.S. Citizen?  Please visit the closest U.S. Embassy to meet with a notary there.  Please contact the Embassy before as most notarization are by appointment only.

Wedding Apostille

March 15, 2020 by Admin

Do you need to apostille your Wedding Certificate?

Did you get married in the U.S. and now need to file your wedding certificate with an apostille in a foreign country?  A popular destination most tourists get married is in Las Vegas, Nevada.  A marriage certificate from Nevada requires a Nevada apostille.  If you got married in San Francisco, California, you will need a California apostille.

We can apostille wedding certificates issued from all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. For countries who are non-members of the Hague Apostille Convention, we can also process your wedding certificate through the U.S. Department of State and the Embassy or Consulate office.

In order to apostille your wedding certificate, you must mail in the original or a certified copy issued by the County Clerk or State Registrar to our office for processing.  Wedding certificates can only be authenticated from the State of origin.  The Secretary of State does not have the authority to authenticate wedding certificates issued from another state.  For example, a California wedding certificate cannot be processed in New York.

Note: Vital record documents cannot be color copied, emailed, notarized, or uploaded to any website.  Beware of web-sites that ask you to upload your documents! Only original documents can receive an apostille from the Secretary of State.

Not every weding certificate qualifies for an apostille.  We recommend that you mail in the certificate you currently have for review before ordering a new one.  If the State rejects your document, we will contact you with instructions.

Please Note: We can only help you with documents originating from or notarized within the United States and for another country. If your marriage certificate is originating from another country, you will need to contact the correct competent authority to assist you in that country.

Obtaining an apostille can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your paperwork could be rejected costing you time and money. Don’t let this happen to you!

Petition for Name Change Apostille

March 10, 2020 by Admin

Do you need to apostille your Petition for Name Change?

Did you change your name when you became a naturalized U.S. Citizen?  Do you need to apostille your Petition for Name Change in order to prove you are the same person as indicated on your birth certificate and/or foreign passport?  Do you also need to apostille your Certificate of Naturalization?

A Petition for Name Change issued from the local District Court (Federal Court) must be an original certified copy signed and stamped by the Deputy Clerk of the District Court.  This document should also include an embossment (raised seal).  Also, the name of the Court should be listed at the top of the form.

Here is an example of a Petition for Name Change issued by the U.S. District Court:

The process of authenticating a Petition for Name Change is a two-step process.  Your document must first be processed through the U.S. Department of Justice before it can be presented to the U.S. Department of State for the apostille.  The current processing time (March 2020) is two to three weeks.  Our office in Washington DC can handle both steps saving you time, money, and the frustration of dealing with two U.S. Federal Government offices.   Please contact our office for the most up-to-date information regarding this document.

Obtaining an apostille can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Power of Attorney Apostille

March 10, 2020 by Admin

Do you need to apostille a Power of Attorney?

Are you currently in the U.S. and need to provide a power of attorney to someone in a foreign country?

A power of attorney apostille is a legal document giving power of attorney to someone in a foreign country to act on your behalf.

The greatest benefit of the apostille is that your documents can be accepted in a foreign country without you being there. You can continue to conduct international business with no downtime. Because of the travel restrictions imposed by the U.S. on foreign countries, it may be difficult to travel to and from certain parts of the word. By obtaining an apostille, the barriers have now been broken and you can continue to do business in a foreign country.

We recommend that your power of attorney be prepared by a professional from the Country requesting it. For example, if the country of Italy is requesting a signed and notarized power of attorney, we recommend that an attorney in Italy prepare your document both in English and Italian.  Some US States will not apostille a document written in a foreign language.  In order to avoid this delay, we recommend that your documents to be written in both languages.

Obtaining an apostille can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your paperwork could be rejected costing you time and money. Don’t let this happen to you!

Our staff is available Monday-Saturday from 9am to 6pm to answer your questions and provide you easy to follow-step-by-step instructions.  Please call us at 1-800-850-3441.
