Do you need to apostille your Pension letter?

Are you planning to retire in another country and have been asked to apostille your Pension income letter in addition to your Social Security Income and Benefits Statement?  Have you been offered a permanent VISA?  Do you also need to apostille your FBI background check?

The most popular countries most Americans are retiring to are:

  • Ecuador
  • Costa Rica
  • Panama
  • Colombia
  • Brazil
  • Ukraine
  • Portugal
  • Mexico

In order to apostille your pension income letter, you must obtain a signed and notarized copy. Please contact the company that is administering your pension and request for a signed and notarized letter attesting to your monthly benefits. If you also need to apostille your Social Security Income and Benefits statement, please contact the local Social Security office and request a signed letter. The Social Security Income and Benefits letter does not require notarization. If your pension is administered by the U.S. Federal Government, no notarization is required.

Note: Beware of web-sites that ask you to upload your documents! Only original documents can receive an apostille from the Secretary of State.

If you have any questions, please call us:

College Diploma Apostille

October 18, 2020 by Admin

Do you need to apostille your College diploma?

We can apostille College diplomas issued from all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.  For countries who are non-members of the Hague Apostille Convention, we can process your diploma through the U.S. Department of State and the Embassy or Consulate office.

In additional to a College diploma, we can also apostille diplomas issued from Elementary Schools, Middle Schools, High Schools, Universities, Trade Schools, and the GED.  Before we can apostille your diploma, you will need to follow the three steps outlined below.

Step #1: The first step is to contact the Registrar’s office at the College and inform them that you need to have your diploma to be signed and notarized.  The Registrar with either ask you to mail in the original diploma or e-mail a color copy. Some schools may request that you purchase a new diploma. If the school does not have a notary on staff, a traveling notary can visit the school and meet with the Registrar.  You can search online and arrange for a traveling notary service to visit the school when it’s convenient for the Registrar.  Most notaries are unfamiliar with authenticating a diploma for another country so it’s best to leave the apostille process to us.  The notary must follow the proper notarial laws of their State.  Because of space limitation on the front of the diploma, the back of the diploma can be signed and notarized.

Step #2: Once you receive your notarized diploma, go ahead and verify that the diploma has been signed and notarized by the Registrar at the College.  Some schools will sign and notarize the back of the diploma while others have enough space to use the front.  The original signature and the printed name of the Registrar must be on the diploma including the notary’s name, signature, date of notarization, notarial wording, and stamp.

Note: Some Colleges may attach a letter printed on letterhead attesting to the attached diploma.

Step #3: The final step is to mail in your diploma to our office for processing.  We have created an order form and credit card authorization form for every US State and the District of Columbia.

Obtaining an apostille can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your paperwork could be rejected costing you time and money. Don’t let this happen to you!

Apostille for Austria – Dual Citizenship

October 10, 2020 by Admin

Are you planning to obtain dual citizenship with Austria?

Are you an Austrian Holocaust descendant and are planning to obtain dual citizenship with Austria?  The most common documents we are processing for Austria are US Birth certificates, US marriage certificates, US Death Certificates, notarized affidavits, and FBI background checks.

An Apostille is simply the name for a specialized certificate, issued by the Secretary of State or the U.S. Department of State. The Apostille is attached to your original document to verify it is legitimate and authentic so it will be accepted in the foreign country.

Austria is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention and any official document destined for this country requires an apostille from the Secretary of State’s office.  We can process documents issued from all 50 U.S. states, District of Columbia, and the U.S. Federal Government for the country of Austria.

The purpose of the Hague Apostille Convention is to create a simplified method of “authenticating” documents for universal recognition.  An apostille certifies the official who signed your documents (Example: State official, County Clerk, Notary Public, Superior Court, FBI, U.S. Federal District Court, etc…)

Apostille for India

August 19, 2020 by Admin

Do you need to apostille your documents for India?

COVID 19 Update for India: The Consulate General of India and the Embassy of India in Washington DC currently do not allow walk in service.  The best way for the country of India to accept your documents is to obtain an apostille from the State office before you contact the Consulate for further attestation.

Attestation of documents such as an affidavit, power of attorney, bank statements, salary statement, color copy of Indian passport, copy of documents issued by U.S. authorities (U.S. Passport, Driving License, corporate documents, etc…) requires to be notarized before an apostille can be issued by the Secretary of State’s office.

We can apostille documents signed and notarized in all 50 States and the District of Columbia (USA Apostille). Once you receive the documents back with the apostille, you will then need to contact the Consulate General of India for instructions on how to attest your documents.

Note: We can only assist you with the apostille service.  Apostille Services does not provide Embassy or Consulate attestation for India.

A power of attorney needs to be signed and witnessed by two individuals (with their names and addresses clearly mentioned).   Please visit the Consulate General of India website for instructions on how to create this document.

In many places in India, they would easily recognize the attestation by the Indian Embassy/Consulate office and hence may ask for attested copy despite the document receiving the apostille from the Secretary of State’s office.  Hence, to avoid any inconvenience, please have your power of attorney apostilled and then attested by the Embassy or Consulate office.

The country of India has one Embassy in Washington DC and five Consulate General offices in the United States.  The Consulate General offices of India are located in the following States:

  • California (San Francisco)
  • Texas (Houston)
  • New York (NYC)
  • Chicago (Illinois)
  • Georgia (Atlanta)

Please contact the Embassy or Consulate office for instructions before you begin to process your document. You may be asked to notarize additional documentation to show proof that you are currently a U.S. resident. Common documents they will ask are:

  • U.S Driving license
  • Water or landline telephone bill displaying applicant’s address
  • House Lease Agreement
  • Bank/credit card/mobile phone statements

Obtaining an apostille can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your paperwork could be rejected costing you time and money. Don’t let this happen to you!
