Affidavit of Single Status Apostille

May 19, 2023 by Admin

Do you need to apostille your affidavit of single status?

We offer apostille services for single status affidavits issued by all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Federal Government (USA Embassy Single Status). For countries that are not members of the Hague Apostille Convention, we can also assist with the legalization process of your single status certificate through the U.S. Department of State and the Embassy or Consulate office.

If you are planning to get married in a country that is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, you will need to apostille a document known as a single status affidavit. Additionally, some countries may require this documentation for employment purposes.

The single status affidavit may also be referred to by various names, including:

  • No Record of Marriage Apostille
  • Certificate of Freedom to Marry Apostille
  • Certificate of No Impediment for Marriage Apostille
  • Certificate of No Record – Marriage
  • Affidavit of Single Status
  • Affidavit of Marriageability
  • Certificate of No Public Record
  • Eligibility to Marry
  • Affidavit of Civil Status
  • Vital Record of No Record

To begin the process, you should contact the County Clerk’s office in your local area. Request a document that confirms your current unmarried status, which is also known as a “Single Status” document. It’s worth noting that some County Clerk offices may use the term “no record of marriage” instead. Please refer to the list provided earlier for alternative names. Generally, most County Clerk offices can issue this document, but if you encounter any issues, it’s advisable to speak to a supervisor. Notarization is not required for a document issued by the County Clerk’s office.

Note: If your local County Clerk is unable to assist you, check with the next County Clerk’s office.

If the County Clerk is unable to provide assistance and you are within the United States, you can create your own single status affidavit using the sample provided above. Essentially, you will be drafting a sworn statement declaring that you are presently not married to another individual in the United States. Ensure that this document is signed and notarized before sending it to our office. It’s important to check with the requesting party if they accept a sworn affidavit directly from you.

For individuals outside of the United States, you can seek assistance from the local US Embassy or US Consulate office. They will guide you in completing the single status document and assist with the signing and notarization process. Since you will be visiting a US Federal Government office and obtaining the signature and notarization from a US Federal notary public, the document can only be apostilled through our Washington DC apostille office.

Obtaining an apostille on an affidavit of single status can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your paperwork could be rejected costing you time and money. Don’t let this happen to you!

Our staff is available Monday-Saturday from 9am to 6pm to answer your questions and provide you easy to follow-step-by-step instructions.  Please call us at 1-800-850-3441.

Apostille Death Certificate

May 15, 2023 by Admin

Do you need to apostille a death certificate?

We offer apostille services for death certificates issued by all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. For countries that are not members of the Hague Apostille Convention, we can assist in processing the death certificate through the U.S. Department of State and the respective Embassy or Consulate office.

To obtain an apostille for a death certificate, please send the original document or a certified copy issued by the County Clerk or State Registrar to our office for processing. It’s important to note that death certificates can only be authenticated from the state of origin. The Secretary of State does not have the authority to authenticate death certificates issued by another state. For instance, a California death certificate cannot be processed in New York.

Not all death certificates are eligible for an apostille. Therefore, we recommend sending in your current certificate for review before ordering a new one. If the State rejects your document, we will promptly contact you with further instructions.

Beware of websites that ask you to upload your documents to a company located in New York or another state.  Death certificates cannot be uploaded nor notarized.

College Diploma Apostille

May 15, 2023 by Admin

Do you need to apostille your College Diploma?

We can apostille college diplomas issued from all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. For countries who are non-members of the Hague Apostille Convention, we can also process your diploma through the U.S. Department of State and the Embassy or Consulate office.

For a list of countries who are members of the Hague Apostille Convention visit this link: Hague Apostille

In addition to a College School Diploma, we can also apostille diplomas issued from Elementary Schools, Middle Schools, High Schools, Universities, and Trade Schools.  Before we can process your diploma, you will need to follow the three steps outlined below.

Step #1: The first step is to contact the Registrar at the College and inform the Registrar that you will need the original or a color copy of your diploma to be signed and notarized.  The Registrar with either ask you to mail in the original or email a color copy. Some Colleges may request that you purchase a new diploma. If the College does not have a notary on staff, a traveling notary can visit the College and meet with the Registrar.  You can search online and arrange for a traveling notary service to visit the College when it’s convenient for them.  Most notaries are unfamiliar with authenticating a diploma for another country so it’s best to leave the apostille process to us.  The notary must follow the proper notarial laws of their State in order for the State office to authenticate the documents.

Step #2: Once you receive your notarized diploma, go ahead and verify that the diploma has been signed and notarized.  Some Colleges  will sign and notarize the back of the diploma while others have enough space to use the front.  The original signature and the printed name of the Registrar must be on the documents including the notary’s name, signature, date of notarization, notarial wording, and stamp.  Please note that some Colleges may draft a color letter and attach it to the diploma.  The cover letter will need to be signed and notarized by the Registrar.

Step #3: The final step is to mail in your signed and notarized diploma to our office for processing.  We have created an order form and credit card authorization form for every US State and the District of Columbia. Click this link for the forms: Apostille Order Forms.  Please contact our office for the most up-to-date processing time and availability.

Please Note: We can only help you with documents originating from or notarized within the United States and for another country. If your diploma originates from another country, you will need to contact the correct competent authority to assist you in that country.

Obtaining an apostille on a College diploma can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your paperwork could be rejected costing you time and money. Don’t let this happen to you!

Apostille for Costa Rica

May 14, 2023 by Admin

Are you planning to obtaining a Visa for Costa Rica?  Have you been asked to apostille your documents for Costa Rica?

As a US citizen, you can obtain a permanent residency visa in Costa Rica through several options, including:

Pensioner or Rentista Visa: If you have a monthly pension income or can demonstrate that you have a steady stream of income from investments or rental property, you may be eligible for a pensioner or rentista visa. The minimum monthly income requirement for the pensioner visa is currently $1,000, while the rentista visa requires a minimum investment of $60,000.

Investment Visa: If you plan to invest in a Costa Rican business or property, you may be eligible for an investment visa. The minimum investment requirement is currently $200,000.

Work Visa: If you have a job offer from a Costa Rican employer, you may be eligible for a work visa.

Marriage to a Costa Rican: If you are married to a Costa Rican citizen, you may be eligible for a spousal visa.

Once you have determined which visa category is most appropriate for you, you will need to submit an application to the Costa Rican embassy or consulate in the US. You will need to provide documentation such as a criminal background check (FBI Background Check Apostille), proof of income or investment, and other supporting documents depending on the specific visa category.

After submitting your application, you will need to attend an interview at the Costa Rican embassy or consulate, where you will be asked questions about your reasons for seeking residency in Costa Rica and your ability to support yourself financially. If your application is approved, you will be issued a residency card, which is valid for two years. After two years, you can apply for permanent residency.

Please consulate with an attorney in Costa Rica.  The information above is not investment advice.
