Apostille for India

August 25, 2021 by Admin

Do you need to apostille your documents for India?

We can apostille documents such as an affidavit, power of attorney, bank statements, salary statement, color copy of Indian/US passports, copy of documents issued by U.S. authorities (U.S. Passport, Driving License, corporate documents, etc…) requires to be notarized before an apostille can be issued by the Secretary of State’s office.

Note: Vital record documents (birth, marriage, death, etc…) are not notarized and must be a certified copy issued by the County Clerk’s office or State Registrar.

We can apostille documents signed and notarized in all 50 States and the District of Columbia.   If you are in California, be sure to download our California apostille order forms.  For all other states, please click on the following link to download the forms: USA Apostille

A power of attorney needs to be signed and witnessed by two individuals (with their names and addresses clearly mentioned).   Please visit the Consulate General of India website for instructions on how to create this document or have one created professionally for you from India.

In many places in India, they would easily recognize the attestation by the Indian Embassy/Consulate office and hence may ask for attested copy despite the document receiving the apostille from the Secretary of State’s office.  Hence, to avoid any inconvenience, please have your power of attorney apostilled and then attested by the Embassy or Consulate office.

The country of India has one Embassy in Washington DC and five Consulate General offices in the United States.  The Consulate General offices of India are located in the following States:

  • California (San Francisco)
  • Texas (Houston)
  • New York (NYC)
  • Chicago (Illinois)
  • Georgia (Atlanta)

Please contact the Embassy or Consulate office for instructions before you begin to process your document. You may be asked to notarize additional documentation to show proof that you are currently a U.S. resident. Common documents they will ask are:

  • U.S Driving license (color copy)
  • Passport (color copy)
  • Utility Bill
  • House Lease Agreement
  • Birth certificate
  • Marriage certificate

Obtaining an apostille can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your paperwork could be rejected costing you time and money. Don’t let this happen to you!

Our staff is available Monday-Saturday from 9am to 6pm to answer your questions and provide you easy to follow-step-by-step instructions.  Please call us at 1-800-850-3441.

August 24, 2021 by Admin

Do you need to apostille a single status affidavit issued by the US Embassy in a foreign country?

Note: If you are planning to get married in another country who is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, you will be asked to apostille a document called a single status affidavit.  In some countries, you may also be required to provide this documentation for employment.

This document may also be referred to as:

  • Certificate of Freedom to Marry Apostille
  • Certificate of No Impediment for Marriage Apostille
  • Certificate of No Record – Marriage
  • Affidavit of Single Status
  • Affidavit of Marriageability
  • Certificate of No Public Record
  • Eligibility to Marry

Here is an example of a Single Status Affidavit / Affidavit of Civil Status issued from a U.S. Embassy / Consulate General:

Travel Consent Apostille

August 18, 2021 by Admin

Are you planning to travel with your child or children and need an apostille on a Travel Consent Letter?

At Apostille Services, we take the guesswork out of obtaining an apostille on your travel consent letter.

We can apostille a travel consent letter signed and notarized in all 50 U.S. states, District of Columbia, and the U.S. Federal Government (Notarized at a USA Embassy and for another country). For countries who are non-members of the Hague Apostille Convention, we can also process your travel consent letter through the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. and the Embassy or Consulate office.

The purpose of signing a travel consent letter is to allow your minor child or children to travel outside of the Country with another person (Example: Father, Mother, Grandparent(s), Aunt, Uncle, brother, sister, etc..).  You can obtain a travel consent letter from the airline, travel agency, or you can find a sample online.

Basically, the letter will state that you are giving permission to one or more people to take your child or children outside of the USA (Example: Mother allowing father to take minor son outside of the USA).  The letter should include travel dates, your full name, the full name of the child, the person the child will travel with, the country the child will travel too, passport numbers, and the return date.  You will want to put as much information as possible include airline information.

The travel consent letter will need to be signed and notarized by the person giving permission.  Once the document has been signed and notarized, it can then be mailed in to our office for processing.  You will need to download our apostille order forms and mail in your original notarized document to our office for processing.  We recommend that you find a notary who has at least five years of experience and one who will follow the notarial laws of their state.  Improperly notarized travel consent letters will be rejected by the State causing delays and additional costs.

Please Note: We can only help you with travel consent letters signed and notarized in all 50 U.S. states, District of Columbia, and the U.S. Federal Government (Notarized at a USA Embassy and for another country) If your travel consent letter was signed and notarized in another country, you will need to contact the correct competent authority to assist you in that country.

Obtaining an apostille on a travel consent can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your paperwork could be rejected costing you time and money. Don’t let this happen to you!

Freedom to Marry Apostille

August 15, 2021 by Admin

Do you need to apostille a certificate of freedom to marry?

At Apostille Services, we take the guesswork out of obtaining an apostille on certificate of freedom to marry.

We can apostille a certificate of freedom marry issued from all 50 U.S. states, District of Columbia, and the U.S. Federal Government (USA Embassy Single Status). For countries who are non-members of the Hague Apostille Convention, we can also process your certificate of freedom to marry certificate through the U.S. Department of State and the Embassy or Consulate office (Legalization Process).

If you are planning to get married in another country who is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, you will be asked to apostille a document called a certificate of freedom to marry.  In some countries, you may also be required to provide this documentation for employment.

This document may also be referred to as:

  • No Record of Marriage
  • Certificate of No Impediment for Marriage
  • Certificate of No Record – Marriage
  • Affidavit of Single Status
  • Affidavit of Marriageability
  • Certificate of No Public Record
  • Eligibility to Marry
  • Affidavit of Civil Status

Here is an example of a certificate of freedom to marry (Affidavit of Single Status):

The first step is to contact the local County Clerk’s office to request a document that states you are currently not married (AKA: Single Status).  Some County Clerk offices may refer to this document as a “single status” instead of a “certificate of freedom to marry” (see list above).  Most all County Clerk offices can provide you this document so please be sure to speak to a supervisor if you are told otherwise.  A document issued from the County Clerk’s office does not require notarization.

If the County Clerk is unable to assist you and you are in the United States, you can use the sample above to write your own certificate of freedom to marry.  Basically, you are writing a sworn statement stating that you are currently not married to another person in the United States.  Be sure to have this document signed and notarized before you mail it in to our office. You should also check with the people requesting your single status if they will accept a sworn affidavit directly from you.

If you are outside of the United States, the local US Embassy or US Consulate office should be able to assist you in completing a single status and also having it signed and notarized.  Because you will be visiting a U.S. Federal Government office and having your document signed and notarized by a US Federal notary public, this document can then only be apostilled through our Washington DC apostille office.

Here is an example of a Single Status Affidavit / Affidavit of Civil Status issued from a U.S. Embassy / Consulate General:

Please Note: We can only help you with documents originating from or notarized within the United States and for another country. If your single status affidavit is originating from another country, you will need to contact the correct competent authority to assist you in that country.

Obtaining an apostille can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your paperwork could be rejected costing you time and money. Don’t let this happen to you!
